The condo I live in had smart meters installed last week.
The next morning, as I sat for meditation, I noticed right off that the meditation that I do was gone.
Normally, what I've been doing for almost 50 years, is to shut down the chattering monkey-mind, and zero in on the quiet, living awareness that lies under the monkey-mind. I think of this like balancing on the edge of a knife. I have to be absolutely focused, and cannot move (create a thought) or the underlying consciousness gets crowded out with the noise of my thoughts. It's very delicate work, and I've still not got to the point where I can quiet that underlying awareness, nor really even know it. I'm still working on just being able to focus on it without falling off the knife edge by wandering thoughts.
Tuesday morning, I sat to do my meditation, and once the chattering monkey-mind was put aside, THERE WAS NOTHING THERE!
Gone.
The next day, in my car, I tried doing a mediation there, but it didn't work – I was in an unfamiliar location, I was distracted by the noise and activity going on around, but I did notice that deeper level was there, but I could not focus on it. But at least it was there. When my shift at the Library came, on Friday, during a quiet period, I tried to meditate again, and the deeper level was there, stronger than in the car, but not like normal. Next I’ll try going to a park, maybe Carkeek. But it has to be quiet, at least for now.
The other thing that happened is that the pictures on the inside of my eyelids are gone.
One of the ways I go to sleep (it works almost instantly) is to look for the images that occur on the inside of my eyelids. These are phosphene images. Here's a good article on the subject: http://www.dreamviews.com/research/126481-phosphenes-hypnagogic-imagery.html
I won't bore you with details of what I used to see, but the images were brilliant, intense, changing and complicated.
On Tuesday, when I closed my eyes – nothing. Just a plain brownish-black flat surface. Forcing myself to look harder, I started to see thin, straight parallel lines, like an electronics drawing, sometimes evolving into a tartan plaid, but just thin black lines on a flat dark blackish taupe.
It's so weird to not see the images that I used to look at . I would use that information as a form of self-check-up, to monitor my life environment.
I’ve heard rumors that the 60Hz signal that comes into our homes can be used as a carrier wave, but I always dismissed that idea. Now, I’m going to have to do some research. The changes I’ve noticed now have me concerned, but not as much as the potential changes that I may not notice.
I’m talking about this, because I've not seen anyone talk about their experiences with the new meters. There is a place to comment, if you want to share changes you've noticed since getting the new meters put in.
